Have a great Friday! How was your week? Here, it’s been a busy week. We are doing well, but some people close to us are having a tough time. We have been supporting in any way we can. But it never feels enough, when you wish that the problem would go away.
It’s been a fairly steady week in our house, with TKD, music, and basketball lessons. It was nice to have a normal week and get back into a routine. Today, my mom is coming to see me! I am so excited about this. The weekend is going to be low-key. I’m making pizza (on Amazon Live, I think) and watching H play basketball. But those are the only plans. I suppose we’re in the doldrums, but the relaxed pace is welcome after the holiday hustle.
Here are some of my favorites from this week. Share in the comments something that made your week better if you want to join in!
- Another Georgia National Championship?
Georgia played TCU on Monday night. Georgia looked more powerful than they had all season, and TCU didn’t look ready. TCU had an amazing season to get to the finals. What a great time to be a Dawgs fan! Back to the national championships. It was cozy to watch it on the couch in my pajamas with my family and text mom, Kris and Cara for every play. - Breathable long-sleeve workout shirt
Since late November, I’ve been wearing these long-sleeved workout shirts. These shirts are breathable and have thumb holes. I can easily layer them under a coat or sweatshirt. I own it in several colors, and I only wear that with my favorite leggings for workouts. It’s my winter uniform. I recommend both if you want comfort and functionality! - Bread Baking
Recently, I’ve been having some fun with sourdough. I’ve been experimenting with my sandwich bread and have made two loaves of Jen’s classic recipe that yields two round loaves. This honey wheat sourdough bread turned out great even though I wasn’t super active. The addition of wheat flour makes it heartier and more filling than other breads. It’s a good wheat option but I prefer the fluffy white.
The sourdough bread sandwich I made was also a success. The mixing was quick and easy. This is a recipe I will make again. And white.
Amber’s Kitchen taught me this week that SHOWER CAPS can be used to cover the dough while it is rising. This is a huge improvement over the grocery bags I was using. I bought this 100-pack and will reuse them, so they should last forever. These are also great for covering food and keeping it free of flies until serving.
- Continuous Glucose Monitor
Mom and I both have wanted to try CGMs for more than a year. Finally, we’re going to try it! We are putting them on Monday. I am excited to see how my body responds to food, drink, exercise and sleep. I have been honest about my struggle with insulin resistance, and my estrogen dominance is tied to insulin resistance. I am excited to see more concrete data that will guide my decisions.
I hope that by increasing awareness of this amazing technology, the market will be able to reduce prices and increase availability. I am looking forward to sharing my experience with you and would love for you to contact me if there are any questions.
- Kid Morning Health Tonic
Is this a tonic, or a random combination that I feel good about and the kids don’t complain? I don’t know, but for the past month I have been giving them elderberry liquid with liquid zinc added and liquid probiotics. They’ve been around coughing children at practices and out and about and they have stayed healthy ( knocking every piece of wooden I see). It could be luck or just good handwashing, but I will continue to give them this combination a few times a weeks until spring.
